What is this thing called “self publishing?”

“I always used to think that publishers had to be devilish intelligent fellows, loaded with the grey matter, but I’ve got their number now.  All a publisher has to do is write cheques at intervals, while a lot of deserving and industrious chappies rally round and do the real work. I know because I have been one myself. I simply sat tight in the old flat with a fountain pen, and in due season a topping, shiny book came along.”

Welcome to Legacy Book Solutions

I still remember the first time I created a book.

I say “created”, because I was not the publisher. That honor went to my employer at the time. I was not the author. That honor went to one of my colleagues. No, I had the honor of managing the project. I set (and reset) the deadlines. I edited and proofed and rewrote. I contacted vendors, gathered quotes, coordinated efforts, solicited feedback, weighed options and made decisions.
